One day a week in a school under the daily supervision of an experiencedschool teacher who acts as mentor. Students use structured activities whichinvolve lesson observation and interviews to understand the organization and daily work of the school. They analyze particular teaching skills, and consider whole school issues. There is a one-hour seminar which consolidates the work done in school.

Students spend thirty days in a school, under the supervision of their school mentor and faculty supervisor. They teach full lessons in their subject area. The course includes a weekly seminar which allows students to share experience and plan their work with their supervisor.

As a mandatory course for English Teacher Education (ETE) students, it introduces the concepts and characteristics of various types of educational technology. The course considers the role and use of instructional technology in teaching, the identification of technology needs in the classroom/school, and the appropriate planning and management of the use of technology. Using technology to develop 2-D and 3-D materials, developing teaching tools (such as worksheets, activities, presentation slides and visual media), analyzing educational software, evaluating teaching tools, internet and distance education, principles of visual design, research pertaining to the effectiveness of teaching materials, and the state of instructional technology for teaching in Turkey and the wider world are the main contents of the course.

This course will give students the opportunity to become familiar and operational with common educational software, internet applications, and ICT tools used in education. This will be accomplished by hands-on experience creating discipline-based educational activities by using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) with a particular focus on improving students’ learning. Students will actively participate in classroom demonstrations, develop lesson plans, and teaching/learning materials based-on Instructional Technology.
